Acer AOD250-1383 10.1-Inch Rating:5 out of 5 stars I was looking for a Netbook that you adapt to it, was looking at several brands and I liked ACER ASPIRE ONE, the memory capacity is 2 GB and the hard disk 250. Installation of Windows 7 was pretty fast, so I do not like about Windows 7 is not given the option to change the wallpaper on the keyboard is manageable compared to others. Recommend to anyone looking for a netbook at a reasonable price.
Great Netbook for the Price! Rating:5 out of 5 stars I purchased this on sale around Christmas (for $280) but it’s still the same netbook. I got it for someone who had a Dell that was four years old and beginning to turn into sludge. First a few things — I’m very computer savvy and looked around for a good two weeks to finally decide on a netbook and I was specifically looking for something that could surf the web and use MS Office if need be. I didn’t need to purchase anything heavy or something with a DVD/Blu-Ray drive. This computer is awesome, just make sure you know what you’re getting before you purchase. It comes with Windows 7 Starter as the operating system. If you want to upgrade to the full edition, it’s going to cost you. If you do want to upgrade, I suggest looking at upgrading the memory to at least 2GB and maybe the graphics card (but that’s entirely up to you). It comes with a lot of hard drive space and is quick to load up (especially if you were using something running Vista -it’ll be a big change). My own laptop is a Sony Vaio Z series and is lighter than the netbook, but not by much. The netbook is smooth and speedy and comes with three USB ports. This is super convenient if you’re using an external HD, an external DVD ROM, and have an ipod plugged in or something. You don’t get the full version of Office, and unless you really need everything on it, I think it’s better to download Open Office (from [...]) and use that instead. It’s free and isn’t as much a type of bloatware as office can be (it takes up a lot less memory). I’d recommend this to anyone looking to move to something more simple that needs something long lasting. The battery life on this little guy lasts at least 7-8 hours normally. Two thumbs up from me!
love this little computer Rating:5 out of 5 stars I have a 17inch HP computer, and although I really like it, it’s not convenient for travel, both for its size and short battery life. I am quite impressed with this little Acer netbook, it’s so much nicer than I expected. It starts up fast (I deleted some of the installed trial programs and the games). The battery life is said to be 8 hours, and I have not had a problem with it dying even after several hours, so I imagine that is a reasonable estimate. The touchpad is small but nicely responsive. The view is clear and sharp, and it comes with a webcam. Finally, the price is terrific! I am very pleased with this purchase.
A Great little Netbook Rating:4 out of 5 stars We purchased the netbook as a way to let our kids on the internet without jeopardizing all things holy on our main computer. We set all security settings to maximum and purchased ESET software that was top rated by consumer reports for internet users who may not always be safe.(opening various windows and advertisements)
The whole family uses it! However, the Windows 7 Starter does not allow you to switch users without logging off, which means closing all activities. Otherwise, we love it.
My Acer is a great mobility option Rating:4 out of 5 stars I wanted this netbook to take out onto a golf course to do scorekeeping for a large group of golfers using a system I built in Excel . It works very well for that primary purpose with one hesitation about the screen glare and visibility in high light (sun) conditions. I need to find a shady spot for decent visibility but that is no big surprise.
The computer has thus far exceeded my expectations by a pretty wide margin. It handles the complex Excel file I am using with no problem at all. It is lightweight but sturdy and the keyboard is easy to use for a large man with big hands. The battery life is quite amazing at more than 4 hours, at a minimum, using the battery that was supplied with the computer.
Shortly after I got the computer I took a trip and it came along for the ride. The ease of taking it in place of my 17 inch laptop was a pleasure. It connected easily with a variety of wifi networks, including some pretty low power “borrowed” unsecure networks.
I was also able to use the computer as a digital picture frame without very much difficulty. I downloaded Picasa (for free) and plugged in my SD card to download my pictures and I suddenly had a 10 inch portable picture frame to review all the pictures with my family on the road.
I wound up buying the accesory kit at one of the office supply stores for $72. The kit includes a wonderful case, optical drive and mouse. I am very pleased with the accesory kit as well.
Windows 7 works very well for this device. I read the negative reviews about the “Starter” edition and I have no need for the software upgrade. I also have no need to upgrade any memory. Save your money.
I am very happy with my $375 investment.
Regarding Amazon, they continue to please me with their services. The delivery of the product was perfect and ahead of the pubished scedule. I also love their product reviews, such as this one, that help guide me to make product selections away from the commerical propoganda. Hopefully this review will help you pull the trigger on buying a netbook like this one. It won’t replace you bigger laptop but it sure is terrific for mobility.
Acer Aspire Netbook Review Rating:5 out of 5 stars I really like this netbook. After doing some informative research, including reading the reviews of the other netbooks on Amazon.com, I decided to purchase this netbook because it met the specifications I needed. I use the netbook mostly for keep meeting and class notes. With the long life battery this netbook is perfect for travel and for taking to the classroom. It is lightweight, compact and easy to use. Although the storage on the hard drive is limited in comparison to larger computers, I use a flash drive for storage of large documents. And though the netbook is smaller, I did not find its smaller keyboard to be a problem or awkward. The programs that come installed are quick and responsive – including access to the internet,a suite of Microsoft programs, and email. When first using the netbook, the programs that come with it give step-by-step application instructions which makes this netbook even more user friendly than some of the other computers I have used. I can not comment on its use for games since this is not what I got the netbook for, but for my needs, it has not disapointed me.
Great netbook Rating:5 out of 5 stars I’ve had this netbook for almost a month. I love it. I did a lot of comparing and reading comments here on Amazon and I’m so glad I picked this one. It’s very light, works very well with the Intant Watch Netflix (this was one of my concerns) and the battery life is great.
average Rating:4 out of 5 stars good computer, windows 7 starter should list what they stripped like the ability to personalize th desktop wall paper and other basic but nice features to have. stick to xp on netbooks or upgrade windows 7
Just love it!!! Rating:5 out of 5 stars Its very light and powerfull, just have 1 week with this little and i’ve don’t have to turn on my desktop, LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
In college? On a strict budget? Read this. Rating:5 out of 5 stars If you are a poor college student like me, this laptop’s price is the BEST out there right now! Here are couple other things you may be wondering about:
>Memory is sufficient for what you need.
>Streaming is okay, and the video card is decent (for the picky techie student, it could be a whole lot better).
>The aspect ratio of the screen is okay for any movie. Widescreen fills up the entire laptop.
>Extremely portable. I bring this thing everywhere.
>8 hour battery? Maybe in sleep mode. It does give you about 6.5 strong though.
>Sound quality is not so hot on its own, so you’ll probably want to have speakers if you don’t have them already.
>Be warned! There isn’t a CD drive. I had to buy an external one.
>Windows 7 Starter. That means you can’t change your background. You’ll have to buy Premium.
>Microsoft Windows 2007 trial. I downloaded Open Office to get me through the day.
Great buy! Rating:5 out of 5 stars I was mainly looking for a “laptop” that was light with a great battery life and I found it. The battery on this netwbook is great. It is also fast in terms of booting it up, browsing the web, etc. I reccomend using firefox or google chrome.
The only bad thing about this laptop is Windows 7 starter.
slow win 7 Rating:4 out of 5 stars This computer is excellent, the only thing that i didnt like it is that comes with windows 7 and it is a little slow, i have upgraded with 2 gb of RAM and it is still slow, and going to change it to win xp.
great little netbook but be careful with screen!! Rating:3 out of 5 stars Bought this for my son as a Christmas gift 2009. Loved it out of the box- very sexy little netbook, seemed like really good quality, glossy screen was beautiful! keyboard not bad at all for size. wasn’t slow at all but we only used it for basic websurfing, email, that kind of thing. then about 1 month later, he goes to turn on the computer and lo and behold there is a menacing black blob on bottom left side of screen with black tentacles extending upwards in a spider’s web to the top right of the screen! Looked like a crack but it seemed to be cracked on the INSIDE! The computer had not been dropped or hit or abused or misused in any way! Just had shut it down and put away the night before and everything was fine! well, in a panic I called Acer tech support only to be told that this (screen damage)is not covered under the warranty and was basically blamed for mistreating the computer. Tech told me it might cost $199 to replace screen and I’d have to cover shipping charges to get it to them! SO because Google is my friend, I looked it up and apparently this problem is not uncommon with these Acer netbooks! I also read that Acer KNOWS about this but still tries to blame customers for the problem! Well, long story short, did NOT send back to Acer- instead bought new screen (exact same model) on eBay for about $65 shipped and fixed it myself with help from online video. Netbook works great now, but we now as a rule DO NOT CLOSE LID WHILE COMPUTER IS ON EVEN IF PUTTING IN STANDBY!! It’s thought by some that the heat from? battery or something is what caused the screen to crack. So please save yourself some money and some heartache and be careful with yours if you get one!
P.S. When I uninstalled screen, found it was made by Samsung, so this may not be just an Acer problem.
Review for Acer Netbook Rating:4 out of 5 stars I puchased this netbook on amazon and my favorite thing about my purchase was the shipping. I did standard shipping and received it immedietly. The netbook has come into great use for me in college consideringit is small and easy to lug around. The only downfall of this product is that it is a tad slow. Other than that it is an excellent product!
Great little netbook! Rating:5 out of 5 stars I bought this netbook for a 2nd PC. Easily connects to our wireless network and we use it all over the house because it is so easy to move around. Great battery life, fast boot-up, good keyboard, and mouse pad works fine even though you can add a mini wireless mouse for about $15.00. I would recommend this netbook to anyone looking for a good little PC for mobility.
Great computer. Don’t like keyboard. But great computer Rating:5 out of 5 stars I have an Acer Travelmate which is the epitome of CRAP! Had I thought about it one year ago, I might have passed it up. But, this is my second Aspire One. When I saw the Aspire One in a Best Buy store a year ago, it did not even seem like it came from the same company. My first Aspire One was/is of excellent quality. The first one with an SSD has been running my online radio station since Feb ’09 24/7 except for three times I stopped it momentarily for a programming change. In other words, it has been an unbelievable computer for me. So I waited for this one with newer processor and large HDD. So far, I love it. Don’t use it but a few times a week. I would prefer a different keyboard, the keys are too close, too slick. I miss keys and type wrong keys when I try to feel my way around it.
But the computer is great! That is my only complaint, but I’m getting used to paying more attention when I type. And the long battery life can’t be beat. I might have bought a different brand with a different keyboard had I played with it first instead of ordering it from Amazon. But for quality, I don’t see how another brand can beat two great ones in a row! Five Stars.
ACER ASPIRE Rating:5 out of 5 stars Nice compact netbook, lightweight, functions great. Highly recommended for those who wants to surf the net while on the road.
Very nice netbook Rating:5 out of 5 stars If you are looking for a very nice netbook this would be it. Battery life is amazing. Make sure you buy a 2 gig memory card to help speed things up a bit. If you can put batteries in the TV remote, you can install the memory. It’s that easy. Like alot of folks say about netbooks, remember it’s a netbook, not a Cray super computer. It’s made to browse the web and check emails. Get one you will not be disapointed!
excellent little machine Rating:5 out of 5 stars When I first got this netbook I wa a little apprehensive having always worked on a full sized desktop. We are very satisfied with the new netbook.
The onle bad thing is there is only one memory slot.
As Amazon offers a memory adding… we thought it would be an add, not a substitution.
Now, the original 1Gb memory chip is useless.
There should be an advertising saying it’s an substitution, not an adding.
