Love it, but I knew I would. Particularly like the touchpad. Takes a bit of getting used to, but this is superbs compared to a standard trackpad and button! Is heavy though!

I got a Mac believing in those Mac vs PC TV ads. I thought that I would be able to find games, use my existing USB devices with the Mac. Many of my devices, including my scanner, my card reader, do not work with Mac. I can’t find apps that I had back on Windows. I will return this back to the Apple store and switch back to PC.

Apple advertises that Macs have better device support… Sorry but that’s just a lie. I was much more happier with Windows… :(

Mas de lo que esperaba debo admitir !!

This is a sleek, slim nice looking computer. But using the touchpad is extremely frustrating. The cursor moves from the last place you put it, so you’re unable to reclick on the same thing. Also, a lot of times when I click on the touchpad, strange drop-down menus pop up for no reason. Nice computer for sure, but it definitely has its quirks. I don’t know if I would buy it again.

    Airport Died after 1 year
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this laptop Late 2008, with standard 1 year warranty given all the positive reviews it had received. It was great while it worked. However it seems that just after its anniversary the wireless wouldn’t work with my router, which connects to about 5 other PCs without issues. Then the airport card finally gave up and now I get a message saying Airport not installed.

I now have a laptop without wireless. I am trying to fix it myself, i really cant afford to send it to apple… funny that I can not find parts anywhere. anybody any suggestions on where I could get an airport card for this?… except ebay. Now that is something to consider. For PC’s you can get the hardware anywhere..

After doing some research online.. I found that there were some quality issues with airport in the past too… when brand new laptops wouldn’t have airport/bluetooth because someone FORGOT to connect the pins?

So yeah my advice would be to buy a good warranty on this.

Wow!!!!! Was simply amazed on how this item looks and feels in person. After being on the PC for so long it does take a couple of days get used to Apple Operating System. I just enjoy the fact that this works immediately right out the box. It is also a plus that Apple give its users the ability to partition the Macbook so that Windows can be installed using a program called BootCamp. Before purchasing, check out the tutorials on apples website just to make sure this is the right machine for you. Just simply a great machine; no regrets.

Best piece of electronics I ever owned…
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have had my MacBook Pro for 6 weeks as of the day of this review. My MacBook Pro arrived with a hassle free and secure packing both from Amazon and Apple. I was excited to open the box. I have been a PC/Windows user for 12+ years. My recent frustrations with frequent Windows OS crashes prompted me to switch the platform altogether. MacBook Pro was very easy to setup. My MacBook Pro had Snow Leopard OS and iLife09 installed on it. The first time computer setup was very easy and took less than 10 minutes. I was online in no time. So far I haven’t had any problems with my machine and I absolutely love it. The only reason I am giving this product a 4 star rating because I wish Apple provided atleast 1 USB port either on the back or on the right hand side of the MacBook Pro. I am a right handed person and I was testing the USB ports of my machine with an external mouse; it was annoying because all the USB ports on MBP are on the left hand side and the mouse cable kept interrupting me. This drawback may not bother most buyers out there as you will enjoying using “extraordinary touch pad” and you may not need a mouse at all. The aluminum uni-body of MacBook Pro looks great, the back lit keypad is awesome and I would highly recommend this product. I also downloaded FREE Neo Office for Mac. It’s an Open Source application equivalent to MS Office. Apple offers FREE 30 day trial of iwork09 as well which I have started to like. Simply put, this is the best piece of electronics I have ever owned.

The Macbook Pro is just awesome.

Once you get to know all the trackpad moves and most of the keyboard shortcuts, it gets really comfortable and instinctive to navigate in Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

I got the 2.26 Ghz for Christmas ‘09, and I have been really impressed so far. The OS runs really smooth and fast, and the interface is beautiful.

This is my first mac ever, and also was I have been expecting for a computer, but was always disappointed with PCs.

Furthermore, I like how running the terminal on Snow Leopard is similar to running it in a Linux distribution, thanks to the UNIX-based OS.

The only game I tried so far is World of Goo, which runs perfectly on this version of the Macbook Pro.

I might add further details later as I get to know my Macbook Pro better, but so far, I love it.

    Best laptop I’ve ever used
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Let me start by saying this is my first foray into the world of Macs, I couldn’t be more pleased. I’ve used HP’s, Dell’s, a high end Alienware, Compaq’s etc. They all feel cheap next to the MacBook Pro.

    Pros:

AWESOME multitouch trackpad, once you try it, there is no going back.

Backlit keyboard is very nice when typing in lower light conditions.

iSight camera is the best I’ve seen in a laptop or a desktop webcam. And the built in mic is surprisingly good.

The magsafe power adapter is a big improvement over the standard “tube” adapters.

The screen is crisp and clear, no washy colors or blurry images.

It stays in the 40-50c range for web browsing and editing documents, and cools down quickly when it does heat up.

The chicklet style keyboard has excellent feedback, and is very comfortable to type on.

The aluminum enclosure is extremely classy, yet very durable. I expect this laptop to last a long time.

Battery life is very good, I can use it off and on for a full day before I need to recharge.

Startup and shutdown times are much faster than the PC based laptops I’ve used.

Last but not least, OS X. While not suited for gaming, it’s nearly perfect for everything else, and it’s particularly good as a laptop OS.

    Cons:

Not a hardcore gaming machine by any means. Though I can play TF2 via bootcamp and pull an average 45-55fps, with spikes up to 100fps, and a minimum around 20fps.

    Only 2 USB ports

No dedicated mic port, you will need a USB mic. But the built in mic should be good enough for most people.

Overall this is a fantastic laptop, light and snappy running OS X or Windows 7, and the multitouch trackpad makes mobile use SO MUCH EASIER. I’ve found myself gravitating to the trackpad even when I’ve had my high end gaming mouse plugged in, that should tell you something.

If you are a heavy gamer, avoid. For anyone else, this is a must have laptop.

My primary objective was to replace a clunky ol’ PC laptop that weighed a ton with a lighter CPU that traveled well. I’m a Mac gal from way back, and am running Windows apps and Mac apps. So far Bootcamp plays nicely with the PC-centric video and audio apps I’m using, as well as everything on the Apple platform. I’m even able to use Guitar Rig (USB guitar effects system) with this MBookPro with very little latency between loaded effects.

The 4.5lb weight was a huge selling point for me, and so far, the MBookPro has been easy to throw into a backpack and schlep onto planes, trains, and up to the garden at the Getty. The VERY LIGHT AC adapter is a bonus as well – much better design than the bricks of yore.

My one gripe is that Apple REALLY needs to put a 7200rpm hard drive into their “professional” laptops; to really work effectively on video on the road, I have found it necessary to bring an external FW800 drive to avoid dropped frames. Really, Apple, 5400rpm? My above-maligned PC laptop (purchase in 2005, mind you) has a 7200rpm drive. Don’t be so miserly with your hard drives in the future, ‘kay? I promise I won’t Scrooge you out of a 5-star review next time if you do. Grazie.

I switched from PC to Mac about 6 years ago and have never looked back. I liked my previous iBook and MacBook but this new MacBook Pro is FANTASTIC! I upgraded it to 4GB of memory and love that I have the option to go to 8GB if I ever want to. It is significantly faster and more responsive than my previous MacBook.

The sleek, new aluminum case is beautiful and solid! My previous white MacBook’s case cracked all the time. I don’t know why Apple still makes those dumb plastic cases.

The battery life is very good, though it may be exaggerated in advertisements. I guess it all depends on your usage.

I would have loved to have tried a solid state drive but they didn’t offer a big enough one for this model. But the hard drive and CD drive are both very quiet anyway.

The new display is dazzling. It is the first thing I noticed after upgrading from my old MacBook. All I can say is “Wow”.

So far, I haven’t a single complaint about my MacBook and would happily recommend it to friends. Windows 7 has nothing on the Snow Leopard OS.

This is my first Macbook pro. At first, I’m really not used to the control. After a while, I like it a lot, especially the quality. The screen is very good and really save power. Although some applications only support Windows, I just install Parallels on OS X and install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and other windows applications. It works great. Even I can develop programs using Visual Studio 2008. I don’t need to reboot using BootCamp.

I switched from PC to Mac and I’ve got to tell you that it really makes a difference, in the best of ways. I am graphic designer so the graphics oriented approach and interface is wonderful. I’ve only had it for a couple days and I’m finding that the mac is very intuitive in the way it manages files, programs, etc. My favorite thing however is the trackpad, in the past I’ve hated trackpads on all other laptops but the ease in which it handles multitouch input is simply fantastic. So if anyone is in the market for a new laptop even if you’re a PC user this is the one to get, no regrets.

What can I say really, it’s completely a fantastic computer. I’ve had it for about three months now, and I’ve used it practically every day. It takes a week or two to get fully used to all of the features, but now I have a hard time using a Windows computer. It really is easy to learn how to use though. And so far I haven’t experienced any sort of problem whatsoever whether it’s with the OS or any of the software, it just works. That’s just it, from the moment you hit the power button, everything is pretty much 100% ready to do anything in 25 seconds. The LED backlit display is beautiful, compared to a matte finish LCD and a high-gloss LCD, this one hits a home run and it’s easier on your battery. The one thing I sort of didn’t like too much, was the exaggerated 7-hour battery. It will probably last you 7 hours-or even longer, but only if you’re doing the most basic computing and on the lowest screen brightness and the backlit keys off. But if you have maybe a few tabs open in Safari or Firefox, and a few other applications with the lowest brightness, you should get about 3-4 hours, which is not bad. Also the graphics are good, but not amazing. It is amazing, however, that it’s actually an integrated graphics processor, rather than a dedicated. For instance, I can play The Sims 3 on the highest possible settings and I can still get a playable 15 FPS. And finally, the casing. Many people say that you shouldn’t buy a computer because of it’s casing, I think it’s well worth mentioning at least. It’s a metal shield around the inner components. Would you rather have a plastic one or a metal one? The plastic will shatter/crack when under pressure or if it drops, the metal one might dent so this is a good thing. I’ve seen MacBooks drop and they are still running when you open it back up, so it kinda gives you that reassured feeling that you that you have a reliable and a dependable computer.

I don’t regret buying it one bit, I realize what sort of Windows computer I could have gotten with $1300 (with tax) but, like I said…it’s a computer that works, it’s light, durable, beautiful.

Aaaaaaw man! where do I start

I bought my computer online via Apple directly. It was delivered promptly and well packaged with all the extra bits I ordered.

The computer was blindingly fast. I chose to run bootcamp with Windows 7. Sweet! High Performance was even faster and life was humming along swimmingly.

Then, some noise and whirring sounds from my laptop around 5 months later. Not cool! I took it in immedeately to the apple store and it was fixed overnight and I’m about to pick it up. FOR FREEEEEE!!!

Hahaha i just feel so happy I chose apple. There couldn’t possibly be a better choice or purchase anywhere else. Forget HP! Forget anywhere else, sending computers away for 2 weeks all sorts of nonsense.

I make my living using this laptop so that woul dhave been unacceptable. one night was bad enough LOL.

So I get the best of both worlds, I can run windows, have the Mac (but I’m not a hipster) and get great reliable service and excellent response times on the hardware.

I couldn’t be happier. If you read my other reviews about HP you’ll know I’m not gushing for nothing, I’ve bene through hell with bad PC’s and seems the gods have taken pity on me and guided me down the golden path to the land of Apple and Happy People.

    Can I get an amen?

I’m typing this review on this bad boy. And bad boy it is. See my Reviews on Windows 7, OS X and the Mac Pro for more info about Mac OS X. This replaced my Black MacBook after a year.

    First off: Speed

It’s fast — not as fast as a desktop or 15″ but plenty fast for day to day tasks. Boot time is about 1 minute. with full usability in about 1 and a half minutes. iTunes can rip a full length CD is less than the time it takes to play 2 songs from it. (It tops out around 22x the speed of play.)

    Second: Looks

Super sleek. I’ve had this computer for about 3 months and still love the look of the thing. It’s no MacBook Air, but it’s very nice. The LED backlit screen is gorgeous and very easy on the eyes. In all but the brightest daylight is it hard to read. The backlit keyboard is not only cool but quite functional if you’re not a touch typist. Edge to Edge glass looks delicate but probably isn’t. Then again I have yet to drop the ‘Book.

    Third: Build Quality

Superb. There’s zero flex, the thing feels like a solid piece of steel because it is. The only caveat is the edge: some edges are a bit sharper than others, so people with delicate hands might complain about the edge of the ‘Book in front of the track pad. The 802.11n wireless and bluetooth is solid — with little to no reception problems due to its aluminum case.

    Fourth: Other Features

FireWire 800? Check. SD card slot? Check. Magsafe power adapter? Rocks. I’ve tripped over the power cable and the magsafe saved me from doing any damage to the power supply or computer. Camera: a little too good! Mic? Great I sound clear and like I’m speaking into a headset mic on Ventrilo.

This is about the 10th computer I’ve owned, and by far the best. The only thing I’d rather have would be a MacPro, but that can’t be taken to a cafe.

    OS X 10.6:

Snow Leopard ishands down the best consumer OS on the market. Windows 7 pales in comparison.

Now in iChat you can remotely control another mac and collaborate on using it! This feature alone is worth a upgrade if you already have a mac.

    CONS:

Edge may be sharp to you. A bit more than a comparably equipped PC.

I bought the 13″ MacPro from Amazon as a gift for my 17 year old son on attaining good results in his O’Levels exams. Within a few weeks of sharing this new purchase with him, I ended up getting another MacPro, this time for myself (replacing my IBM Compatible), primarily because of it’s design features i.e, the self-adjusting display, a no-nonsense keyboard and a seamless track pad – extended battery power is also something which is great for my out of city day trips. The only handicap which I faced and which I was able to quickly overcome was to install ‘Windows 7′ on it to help me with my ‘Architectural Drawing’ work in ‘Autocad’ – which the ‘Leopard’ doesn’t allow you to do, or perhaps it does but maybe people don’t know about it. That said, our overall experience with the MacPro is highly satisfying.

I just wanted to say thank you to both Apple and Amazon for making this a really good deal, I just ordered this Macbook Pro 13 to gift it to a friend of mine, opened it to load the Microsoft Office Mac 2008, and let me tell you this, the machine was so cool, fast and reliable. I’m going to purchase the higher specs one for myself though I really don’t have any cons about this one but let’s say that I want to avoid a later on upgrade to mine, the screen is so amazing, I own and worked on all kind of LCD’s, computers (HP, Dell, IBM Thinkpad, Sony Vaio, Toshiba and others) and this by far was way better machine, the boot-up speed was fast enough to notice, every Vista or Windows 7 or whatever MS OS you may have is terribly slow compared to this one, it’s got everything anyone could possibly need, Office software, iWork looks great, I’ve tried it at Apple store and didn’t need it at this time because I ordered MS office (if you work on Excel spreadsheets and Access you would need this as iWorks doesn’t support advanced Macros and other features comes from Microsoft, what you’re not told when you but the Microsoft office is that each package you get (you pay around $120) for that, you get 3 licenses to be used on 3 different Mac’s, so that’s a really cool thing if you;re buying/own more than one Apple computer.

updates are reliable and secured and it only take few minutes to download them and install them, no waiting for 30-45 min on PC,

I just wanted to say that I really liked this product.

I use it primarily for Java/Ruby based development, run MySql, Apache, MAMP, Eclipse (Galileo/Ganymeade), JBoss AS, Tomcat, IntelliJ, Photoshop CS4 design work. Of course all the time I run iTunes, Firefox, Tweetie etc. It is blazingly fast, shuts down and wakes up in a wink of eye, works exactly as I want it to, no unnecessary restarts/shutdown due to updates, no hassle of virus scanning, functions without any problem! I have been using it for 6 weeks now with no problems – at all.

I have been a PC user since I was introduced to computers, many years ago. I always wanted to try a Mac computer, but the prices of them always kept me from buying one. After all what if I got it and paid that much for one, and then it didn’t live up to my expectations? It came in good time, about a week after I ordered it. I used the free shipping that Amazon.com offered. It came UPS, but had a very nice feature where I could track the package online and know where it was.

As far as the MacBook itself I had a few worries, the screen size only being 13″ inches was one of them. Needless to say I love the size of it! You do not notice that it is 13″ inches because it is actually better than having a huge screen! The screen is perfectly sized! The performance of the product is amazing! Fast, responsive, easy to get used to the operating system, and beautiful! If you have the money to get one of these and are considering one, get it, you won’t regret it!

I was a Mac person 15 years ago and switched to the PC/Windows world for 15 years. After frustration and a slow OS (XP and Vista) I finally decided to go back to the Mac. I went to a few place to try it out and was amazed at how much faster it was. So I figured that since these are newer machines, they were not filled with a lot of garbage slowing them down. I then tried a friends 2 year old Mac and it was nearly as fast (slower machine with less RAM), so I jumped on board.

I do not regret this purchase one bit. When I go to work I realize how much I hate the slow-bloatware PC based and the 6 minute PC boottime seems like forever. I am so spoiled with the 16 seconds to boot and 2 seconds to shut down (Actually I almost never shut down, just close the lid and it sleeps) and with the long battery life it is not an issue. I can go to Starbucks (where I am now) and not even need to bring the charging cord because the battery has been lasting about 4-1/2 to 5 hours (I put my screen at max brightness so I do not get the 7 hours, but could bring down the brightness if I needed to).

The keyboard is different but got used to it quickly. The trackpad is really usefully and multi-functional. I can swipe 3-finger between pages, scroll and rotate pictures.

I was on the fence about switching over for about 3 months and wish I would have done this sooner.

The included software (iLife) is decent & powerful software that is not teaser software that asks for additional money for additional features.

I had such a hard time with my PC and JVC Hard Drive Camcorder. It would take 3-4 hours to get the scenes loaded and the DVD burned. The Mac natively (iDVD and iMovie) can import and read the scenes and build and author a movie in 1/2 the time, plus they look more polished (every Apple usually does).

I am NOT a gamer, so I cannot comment on that. Also I am NOT using Bootcamp (ability to boot as a Windows machine) as I am trying to cut the cord and go 100% Mac which in 3 months have never been an issue yet.

The screen is also so sharp and bright it is a pleasure to work on.

The only things I purchase additionally were:

    4 GB Ram

    Magic Mouse (for photo editing)

    iWorks (Letters, Spreadsheet, Presentation)

and the DVi Adapter (to use my external HP monitor for Lightroom photo editing – 25% of the time)

I could not be happier with this computer and waited 3 months to do this review so the new toy effect wore off and the review would be more accurate.

Buy it and enjoy using a computer, not waiting for Windows to load, Virus software to update, services to load and just get down to using your computer.

I went with the 13.3″ because I wanted a smaller/lighter solution and have the ability to connect to a larger screen at home if needed (though I a spoiled by the Mac screen so I use that as much as possible). I was a little concerned that the smaller screen would be too small, but the desktop seems like it is about the size of workable space.

I am running Snow Leopard as that is what it came with and have not had any issues.

Hey! I just bought my Apple MacBook Pro 13″ and let me tell you, its great.

I’m a “begginer” audio/music producer and I use it for my home recording studio. It runs amazingly.

    Pros:

-Very fast and can run many apps at the same time

    -Incredible design

-Millions of details that make it great, like the Multitouch Trackpad

-Comes with iLife 09 that makes your life easier with a bunch of incredible softwares for editing movies, pictures AND A RECORDING SOFTWARE called GarageBand. I don’t use it ’cause I’m a bit higher and uso ProTools 8 (Digidesign) but it is awesome.

    -Very light and thin.

    -MAC OS X SNOW LEOPARD!

    -Integrated iSight camera and mic

    Cons:

    -Only two USB ins

    -NO MICROPHONE IN JACK

When I got it, it was a beauty – from the way Apple packages to the actual laptop. It’s very simplistic – the laptop, the power cord and user guide.

The machine is really beautiful – like a work of art, but the real power is the machine and the OS. Setup was easy enough – it took me about an hour. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong wireless network during setup (it was late at night) and it took me while to resolve the issue. I restarted my wireless router, modem and laptop – after doing this for a while and entering and re-entering the WEP key it finally got online. When I finally did get it online, I was able to register with Apple and do all the software/OS updates.

I’ve used Windows my whole college and working life – this wasn’t too bad of a transition. I use shortcut keys heavily with Windows – I prefer minimizing the use of the mouse/track as much as possible. The shortcut keys are still taking some time for me to get used to, but I’m sure I’ll learn them eventually.

Boot up is fast! So is waking up from sleep! I still like Windows – and I was able to play with Windows 7 for a few days and was impressed. But I think the MacBook Pro and Snow Leopard will soon be my favorite.

I should mention that after a long resistance due to using Windows Mobile and Palm phones (both of which I enjoyed), I decided to try the iPhone 3G over a year ago – the iPhone was a great deciding factor in my decision to eventually getting a Mac. I never had buyers remorse getting the iPhone and I’m pretty sure I won’t have buyers remorse with the MacBook Pro.

The laptop was cheaper than on the Apple’s site. It arrived in mint condition in less than a week.

Recently made the switch from windows to mac and as far as I’m concerned there is no looking back. It was a great feeling starting up my macbook and not being inundated with garbage software that is encountered on pc’s. I personally enjoy the iphoto software with its face recognition. It makes organizing photos easy and fun. I love the look and feel of my macbook. The precision cut aluminum unibody is very rigid and feels solid. The screen is bright and crisp. I have had no issues with my computer yet which is more than I can say for pc’s I’ve owned. Both pc notebooks I owned had serious issues within a month of purchasing them. I really haven’t found anything I don’t like about my macbook pro. It took a day or two to learn and get acquainted with apple’s OS, but now I find it easier to use and more intuitive than Windows OS. I hope this helps.

This is the best computer I have ever owned. It is very user friendly. I love the fact that I can hook up any new device ie: printer, and it picks it up and I don’t have to download drivers or use a disc. I LOVE IT.

This is the best personal computer I’ve ever had! If you don’t have one, you should definitively buy one! MAC is the best!
