The printer met all my needs. The wireless set-up easily and I can print from my mac, pc, and netbook.

I have 3 main complaints: the software isn’t great, the printer is just a bit slow to start printing, and it’s not at all small or light.

But everything works really well. It copies well, it scans well, the screen is crisp, and it found my internet right away.

Replacing an older HP. Our printing requirements are low key and they are being met. As with all printers, the ink is pricey compared to the printer. Easy setup and use so far. Happy with purchase. Wasn’t happy that it was dropped off without warning and spent the night outside in the freezing weather.

I’m loving it!!! Still need time to make it second nature to me! Have to un-learn my old printer. The quality of this product is super! And you can’t beat the price! Prints high quality photos, scans quickly, and has tons of wonderful functions that I thought was only found in the more expensive printers! Can honestly recommend this Cannon PixmaMP560!!!!

Can not think of a better value for $100. This multi-function printer does everything one can think of, or need, at home.

Could not be happier with the product and vendor.

This is an excellent printer. Plenty of printing options and ink savers. Perfect for the SOHO. I have yet to try photo printing but any web image I’ve printed is a clear and representative copy of the image. Best of all, unlike the Epson this replaced, you can continue to print even if one of the ink cartridges is empty.

I have no affiliation with Canon. Bot this printer because I HAD to have a wireless printer that was decent and it does not disappoint. I have Verizon Fios Internet and the printer easily connected with the router. It was easy to set up the other laptops in the house. The photo print quality is fine for my scrapbook needs. The flatbed copier is just what I needed. Everything about the printer is easy / intuitive. Highly recommend.

Great for small home wireless networks!

I recently got a Canon MP560, primarily because of its wireless technology – it set up flawlessly and intuitively on my home wireless Vista system in about 15 minutes. It is a great printer, and I’d give it an easy 5 stars were it not for Canon’s “forced” use of its inks.

I’ve been using Canon printers for many years – I like the quality they build into them, and the fact that Canon’s printers are always priced far below their true value – But this is because Canon doesn’t make their profit on the sale of the printer, they make it on the sale of the inks, for which you pay ridiculous prices.

Canon is no worse than any of the other printer companies, so forget about finding a better option – but there is a way to avoid those high priced inks – learn how to fill your own cartridges.

For many years I refused to buy any Canon printer that used a “chipped” cartridge – no matter what Canon says regarding why they started putting chips on their ink cartridges, the real reason is to make it almost impossible for 3rd party compatible ink cartridge makers to produce knockoffs of Canon’s ink carts, and to frustrate home re-fillers. But that’s exactly what I’m suggesting you learn to do – if you even just use a moderate amount of ink carts, you’ll save hundreds of dollars a year by so doing.

Over the years, Canon has lost a series of court cases regarding their contention that they can force their customers to buy only Canon inks carts for their printers! Sort of like GM insisting you buy only their gas for a GM car (if they made gas). So there is nothing illegal about refilling your own carts – and if you go to [...], you’ll learn how to refill the correct way (especially the German “Durchstich” method). Everything you need to know is here.

Yes, refilling ink carts can be quite messy – be sure to pay attention to good process prep, and go carefully for the first few times until you get a comfortable feel for avoiding a sloppy process. The Durchstich method is the best way to stay clean and avoid a mess.

Surprisingly easy to set up, very quiet, moron proof so far
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Coming from a printer with 2 ink cartridges I was worried 5 of them would be a hassle, but considering my previous Dell printer lived a long and well used life and then died suddenly, I had to upgrade just as suddenly. No time for a drawn out, head banging on the desk learning curve.

Afer a full day of nothing but printer research both online and in the local stores, I decided on this Canon MP560 for a couple of reasons. The other positive reviews, the fact that it IS compatible with Windows 7 (with a download from Canon’s website) for my new laptop, and it can go wireless or be used via a USB connection to the desktop computer. (Meaning my husband can print things without a chorus of cursing and hollering that ends up with me doing it for him)

The printer arrived today and I had it set up and printing in about 45 minutes. It probably could have been up and going faster than that, but I dropped the USB cord from the old printer behind a dresser and that ate up 10 minutes in retrieval. Note – the Canon does NOT come with it’s own USB cable, you must provide your own! Anyway, the color and black & white documents are crisp and clean and the print time is fast enough for home office type requirements. It’s very quiet as well which is a definate added plus.

From the time I received the package until I had it operating was about 30 minutes. It found my router with no problem. Both my wife and I find it simple to use. She copied her first document in minutes without referring to instructions.

I have had this printer for only a week, but so far I have been very impressed. I am not a technical person but I was able to connect the printer wirelessly to my laptop in under 25 minutes. I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7. The instructions were fairly simple. The print quality is impressive, the photos I have printed so far have been as good as if I went to any photo retailer. Text documents printed very nicely as well. The only negative (and I am nit-picking) is the print time is fairly slow, but I am using it for home use so it does not bother me. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone looking for a quality printer for around $100.

This wireless printer is excellent so far. It was very easy to set up, including setup of the wireless features. I also really like that the software is installed on the printer itself. I’ve scanned pictures and documents, as well as used it as a copier, and have liked all the features. The price was great as well. Overall, I like it much better than the HP all-in-ones that I’ve owned.

For my application, this printer has good utility. I sell on eBay and need a good scanner and printer which this product posesses. I do not want wires running everywhere so I like the wireless feature also. The by-pass tray is a plus becauce I can use it to print envelopes. Like all ink-jet printers, the cost of the ink is inflated. I don’t know why they just don’t give us the printers because they make so much on the ink.

Buy it with confidence! It’s only $100, go get one.

I hesitated to set this up after a long day at work while an impatient four year old asked for dinner and my husband headed out the door for a workout. Well, curiosity got the best of me and I unpackaged it. It was a little larger than I thought it would be but it is waaayyy sturdier than most all in one printers out there. Doors weren’t flimsy and moved smoothly in and out/up and down. I heart how the printer paper tray is inside the machine and the printer door opens on it’s own when you print something. I heart how it all closes up into a box. Let me tell you, I was set up in 15minutes and made dinner for my kid in that time as well. Now I’m priting all my pent up photos that have been praying for escape from my laptop since my last printer’s ink was discontinued. For the price it’s an amazing deal. To think I was conemplating paying much more for much less at another store. I am a gadget geek but not so tech savvy that if this were difficult that I wouldn’t be tripped up. Don’t have buyers remorse in the least with this product. The reviews are spot on!

I had the Canon MP390 FOREVER! It was a great printer, but a small plastic piece broke on it, and I couldnt fix it, so I finally bought a new printer and this Canon is great too! You can buy the ink at SIMPLYINK online. You can get 12 cartridges for $58 on sale. These printers do use ink rather quickly, but when the cartridges are between $4-$5 its not bad at all! Highly recommended, Im sure it will last as long as my other Canon all-in-one.

    Great Printer
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Great printer so far. I’ve always been an HP user, so the learning curve was a bit steeper during the setup than it otherwise might have been with another HP–there are more components to put together and the instructions are more pictorial than I’m accustomed to–but all in all, the setup was a breeze. The duplex (two-sided) printing on this thing must be seen to be believed. That feature alone is worth the $100. (Update: I bought this for $98. If it’s higher than that, you might want to wait it out and see if it comes back down.)

Two downsides are its relatively slow printing (my previous 6-year-old HP Deskjet would crush this in a race, for example) and its relatively big size (fairly short but rather wide and definitely deep; don’t get this if you’re looking for a printer with a compact footprint), but they’re definitely not dealbreakers. I’m personally more concerned with saving paper and being able to print things from another room in my apartment without having to get up and plug in a USB cable every time, so if those things are important to you too, I’m guessing you’ll be happy with this.

Unfortunately I haven’t had a chance to do any scanning, copying, or photo printing, so I can’t comment on how well those work–but it’s Canon. I’m not expecting to be disappointed.

For those with Mac OS X 10.6 (I’m running 10.6.2), installation using the disc was fine, and Software Update prompted me to download updated drivers within a day. I don’t anticipate using the bundled software at all, but for ease of installation, it was a small price to pay. My biggest problem with the software now is that it installs a menubar icon for the scanner that doesn’t appear to be removable. Kind of annoying. (Update: Search Google for an Apple support thread on removing the menubar icon. It basically just involves removing the offending application from login items and/or killing the process in Activity Monitor. Done.)

Set up was not difficult…..took some time and rereading of the directions but I’m not a tech type so it was done within a reasonable amount of time. The wife’s Asus was connected first then my Mac. printing was quick and clear – have not used the scan mode yet.

I would buy this unit again through Amazon…

I’ve gotten so aggravated by my experiences at the Big Box {Ignorant sales people who hope you don’t ask them a question and when you do, you realize, as they read the box cover information to you that you know more than they do about the product.] In fact, I had picked up a Canon 560 printer in a box, walked around to find extra ink packs…found them and started to the check out counter…then thought to myself “Do I want to give my business to ‘Big Box’? I thought No… put everything back and left to order through Amazon…enough said

I did have some trouble setting up the wireless connection. Then I followed the instructions on the little viewer on the printer and it made the connection. When I cannot remotely print, it is due to the wireless router, which is not reliable. So, by rebooting the router the printer go on line.

Photo print quality is OK, but I’m used to a high quality Canon photo printer which give me excellent results. I like the duplexing feature, but don’t use it much. I do like the twin paper racks. One for photo paper and the other for plain.

The noise is reasuring rather than bothering.

This printer is great!! It was very easy to set up, I did have a few issues with the wireless connectivity, but that was fixed with on line tech support. Other than that this printer is fast at printing. This is my first Cannon printer, I have had Epson and Lexmark printers, and this one beats them hands down!!

Although I haven’t used it much yet, I am very impressed with this printer thus far. The wireless set-up was very easy and I was up and running inside of twenty minutes. I’m switching from an HP specifically for the wireless capability; I didn’t go with the wireless HP because I wasn’t completely satisfied with the one that I have. For the ease of use and all of the available features, you just can’t beat it for the money.

I own 2 HP printers before, 2 Epson and now 2 Canon Printers. I have no problem with any of them and the only reason I picked one over the other is who has the biggest sale at the time. And the MP560 was 70 bucks at Frys and I was in a market for a scanner that cost about the same. As this can do a lot of things well, it doesn’t do anything that great and hence the price range.

    Features:

My 2004 Canon i960 is still my photo printer, while the MP560 does a good job, the 3 color inks are no match for 5 color inks of the i960 for skin tone. For printing regular word document it is on the same line as Epson. For some reason I always thought HP (Officejet 6110) looked the best in the eyeball test for B&W document. This is a minor thing, since the Canon letters are very sharp, maybe the black isn’t like HP. The problem with photo printers is that they waste inks when you don’t even use it. Canon inks dry up much more then the HP. I was tossing color inks when I barely used them in a year. I am hoping this newer printers ink type is a little more efficient and I like the two black ink tanks. I didn’t time the printouts nor measure how much ink it will cost, but it seem to be on par with my other printers or a little faster. There is auto duplex printing.

The scanner spec is similar to Canon LiDE100 Color Image Scanner (2923B002), which I think works fine for quick copies, but is not good enough to archive photo prints. I thought the image was a little burry and if you turn on the mask feature then you get too many artifacts that is not in the original photo. I scanned the canon’s CD for fun and that looked great. Scanning was fast enough. I just can’t recommend this for high quality photo scan. I would probably pick up a Epson Perfection V30 Color Scanner if I get serious about scanning photo. I have been scanning more documents into PDF and missed the document feeder of the Officejet that I gave away (still works fine, but couldn’t do PDF).

Wifi was new in printers about a year a so ago and I though nice but not worth it. Now that I got multiples computers it is a must buy feature. I first had to use an usb card to printer from one computer to another. This I turned on printer sharing on the computers and have to leave one on as a print server to work. The wifi is much faster than the print server and you don’t have to keep the other computer on. Wifi setup for the MP560 was really easy, you set up the printer settings first then enter the SSID. Then your computers hooked to the router and your wifi laptop will find it when you do the CD setup. I got this printer working on a Window 7 64bit laptop as well as a Vista 64 on my main computer without issues. You can print, scan to computer, scan from computer via wifi. It is almost as fast as the usb connection, or you won’t notice the different.

The design is really nice and modern; I did like it better than anything HP or Epson had in the same price range. It looks like a little drawer. Very boxies and you might not know if it is a printer. There are two paper tray locations; you have to set which one you want to use, one can’t over ride the other like in the office printer. You can keep the printer door close and when it prints it kicks out. The hidden screen is very easy to use with the iPod like scroll wheel. It is much heavier the Epson printers and the depth is a lot more then you realize at home. I been using Canon software and think it works very well with their product.

    Issues:

Nothing really for this price range. I couldn’t replace my other printers in for photo and might have to get a better scanner for photo also. No fax, but that is not used much.

I thought about returning this for the Canon PIXMA MX860 Wireless All-In-One office Printer which has the scan resolution I was looking for and the document feeder plus fax that I can use in a home office, but at this price and all the features you can’t go wrong here. I would not spend over a 100 for this printer.

    great printer with some flaws
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’m using Mac 10.6.2, Snow Leopard on a 24″ iMac.

The MP560 produces excellent text and photo quality.

It can be used hard wired or wireless but not both at the same time. So if you have a laptop as well as a desk computer as we do, do not use a USB cable to connect the printer to the computer as it will then not be accessible to the wireless laptop.

It does not support auto on/off but if left powered on, it goes into sleep energy saver mode and wakes quickly. At first this seemed to be a problem deal breaker but learning of the power save mode makes it easy to keep the printer on if we know that we will be using it from our laptops rather than the iMac.

Ink cartridges significantly smaller than for my previous Pixma 5200 but slightly cheaper. But it will be the primary expense of this printer. I am not sure if this is different from any other brand of printer out there, however.

The paper outlet drawer opens automatically when the printing begins so you can leave it closed for a tidier look to the printer.

You do not have to install the complete software et al contents of the Installation disc if you chose not to. Using the installation disc, you can chose Custom Install and chose only what you want to install. The choices are the instruction manual, the drivers, and the software so it is not necessary to install the complete package as has been noted in another review.

The top paper slot is for Photo paper, and the bottom tray is for regular paper. The default on the printer is Automatic Chosing depending on what you are going to print. On my older Pixma 5200, you have to tell the printer which tray of the two to use but it was not any problem with the 5600 as the automatic choice seems to work just fine every time.

The lcd screen, which is becoming standard on printers these days, allows for printing directly from a camera without the computer, and allows for esy copying. My current copier is a sheet loader so a receipt or other small item has to be taped to a full sized page to pass through the copier. Not so with this machine as you just lift the top door of the scanner component and place your small paper inside just like the grown up copiers. This makes a hugh difference wfor us but probably not so if you already have a copy machine that works the same way.

A major problem occurred but Canon tech support helped me develop a workaround solution.

iPhoto in 10.6.2 cannot print borderless of any number of prints per page other than one. So if you want to print 2 or 4 borderless prints per page, you will get borders despite the settings you chose. It will print a borderless full page print, however but you will be taken through an extra print dialogue box after you select Print.

Because of this, I installed the Canon software which is much more intuitive to use than printing from iPhoto itself and does allow for multiple borderless prints per page. The problem with the Canon Easy PhotoPrint EX is that it does not recognize iPhoto so you cannot chose any of the photos in the iPhoto library. What to do?

Create a desktop folder (mine is called iPhoto pics) and Copy and Paste any photos from iPhoto that you wish to print. The Canon Easy PhotoPrint software will callup a dialogue box allowing you to chose form many areas of your computer to chose photos to print, and the Desktop is among them. It takes several clicks the first time to get to the Desktop photos. So when the Easy Photoprint appears in the dock (which it will once you start the Print process), right click on it and click Remain in dock choice). Then, every time you click on it in the dock, it will immediately take you to the folder on the desktop in which you have saved your photos for printing. It is much easier and quicker than it takes to read this paragraph.

Now you can print as many borderless prints per page as you want directly from the Canon proprietary software.

I’m looking forward to creating a custom Calendar and Valentine’s Day album with photos on every page using the included software that walks you through the process.

I researched a number of different printers to find one that was compatible with my new MacBook and existing wireless network. Given my specific business needs, Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Printer has been a seamless solution.

Instructions for setting up the printer – installing components that had been stored in the printer for shipping – were straightforward. Connecting the printer to my network was so easy it seems effortless.

I am very impressed with the quality of this low cost printer. It was clear to me as soon as I removed it from the box that it was well made with real craftsmanship. This printer is a cut above the norm. Based on my experience, I recommend this Canon wireless printer for Mac and PC users because it works so well for my Mac and PC network.

I got it yesterday. I got it setup on the network easily, there are many options to be able to do it. I tried the WCN option, which allowed me to export the Wifi settings from my Vista PC via a thumbdrive to the printer. That worked great.

The only setup problem was that the printer kept failing setup. I happened to see a bit of a cryptic note in the driver dwownload screen that said sometimes the printer won’t set up, so disconnect firewall and internet. So, after downloading new drivers, uninstalling the old ones, rebooting the PC, disconnecting from the internet, and reinstalling the new drivers, the printer finally passed setup. I don’t understand why they are still shipping with CDs with drivers from before October 2009. But it’s not much worse than anything else I have attempted to install to my Vista PC :)

The AIO seems well constructed and solid. The bottom paper tray feels a little flimsy when you are loading paper, but feels solid once it is pushed home.

All the functions of this printer seem to be great so far. The printhead alignment blew me away – print an alignment page, then scan it to get the alignment – no checking which sets of parallel lines are not broken. It says you only need to do alignments if you are going to print photos, but it is so easy, I would recommend doing it anyway. The scanner seems to work great so far. And, even though I don’t plan on using this for photos very much, the first photo I printed on it looked phenomenal!

So I am pleased so far. I don’t yet know how often I will be buying ink. I also haven’t yet set it up on my XP nor on my 2000 computers, but my Vista went well, so I don’t anticipate a problem with them. Of course, the drivers may not support Win2000, but that one would be my fault for not getting rid of an obsolete computer.

The best part was, once I had it set up and demoed to my wife, I told her it cost $94. She about flipped – she was expecting me to say it cost $200. So she is happy too!

2/11/2010 – No problems with this printer so far. Haven’t yet loaded drivers onto any other PCs, but what I have used from my Vista PC, I have scanned a bunch, and printed a lot. It’s a little slow to start printing, but once it starts up it prints at a good speed.

I also like the auto-opening front door, it has a nice look on our desktop closed up.

After enduring a series of HP printers with their bloated software, long driver boot times and voracious appetite for ink, I was determined to try another manufacturer for a replacement. This printer is used at home, mostly for casual use, but we have taxed it’s predecessors with printing graphics-intensive birthday invitations and similar documents with varying success. It’s early days yet, but so far this Canon appears to be up to the task – time will tell on the ink costs. It is our first wireless printer; the setup was painless and I’m especially enjoying the ability to scan expense receipts and save them directly to a PDF on my work laptop.

We selected this printer based primarily on the positive reviews here on Amazon and have no problem adding another such review.

Alright, I haven’t bought many printers like this to compare this too so I will try and keep this short and sweet. The setup was simple, adding it to wireless was easy too. I haven’t printed any photos yet but have had this for a few weeks. I like that there’s a duplex function (Double-sided) and the ability to scan to image or PDF is great. You can be at your PC and scan what’s in the bed, or go to the printer and specify a PC you want to scan to.

As of now, Windows 7 x64 has one issue I’ve noticed. Telling the printer to scan to a PC (With Win7×64) fails and the PC throws an error. I don’t think there’s been a drive update just yet. However you can still tell the PC to scan, I think this might be some permission issue causing the problem but am not sure. Just seems annoying to put something in the printer, walk through a few rooms to the PC, and have to say to scan.

Anyway, I suggest this for anyone who is looking for a printer upgrade, the price is right and it’s loaded with features. If you’re a photographer making prints, maybe you have more criteria to judge this printer on but I’m happy with my decision!

Setup was easy. Needed to move printer next to router to get good signal. everything works great for the limited amount of printing I do. Noise might bother some users.

The scanner is great, wireless works great, photo printing is great, and regular printing is great.
