setup and use
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Setup was easy. Needed to move printer next to router to get good signal. everything works great for the limited amount of printing I do. Noise might bother some users.

Love it!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Alright, I haven't bought many printers like this to compare this too so I will try and keep this short and sweet. The setup was simple, adding it to wireless was easy too. I haven't printed any photos yet but have had this for a few weeks. I like that there's a duplex function (Double-sided) and the ability to scan to image or PDF is great. You can be at your PC and scan what's in the bed, or go to the printer and specify a PC you want to scan to.

As of now, Windows 7 x64 has one issue I've noticed. Telling the printer to scan to a PC (With Win7x64) fails and the PC throws an error. I don't think there's been a drive update just yet. However you can still tell the PC to scan, I think this might be some permission issue causing the problem but am not sure. Just seems annoying to put something in the printer, walk through a few rooms to the PC, and have to say to scan.

Anyway, I suggest this for anyone who is looking for a printer upgrade, the price is right and it's loaded with features. If you're a photographer making prints, maybe you have more criteria to judge this printer on but I'm happy with my decision!

Excellent buy for the price
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After enduring a series of HP printers with their bloated software, long driver boot times and voracious appetite for ink, I was determined to try another manufacturer for a replacement. This printer is used at home, mostly for casual use, but we have taxed it's predecessors with printing graphics-intensive birthday invitations and similar documents with varying success. It's early days yet, but so far this Canon appears to be up to the task - time will tell on the ink costs. It is our first wireless printer; the setup was painless and I'm especially enjoying the ability to scan expense receipts and save them directly to a PDF on my work laptop.

We selected this printer based primarily on the positive reviews here on Amazon and have no problem adding another such review.

Great All in One for the money!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I got it yesterday. I got it setup on the network easily, there are many options to be able to do it. I tried the WCN option, which allowed me to export the Wifi settings from my Vista PC via a thumbdrive to the printer. That worked great.

The only setup problem was that the printer kept failing setup. I happened to see a bit of a cryptic note in the driver dwownload screen that said sometimes the printer won't set up, so disconnect firewall and internet. So, after downloading new drivers, uninstalling the old ones, rebooting the PC, disconnecting from the internet, and reinstalling the new drivers, the printer finally passed setup. I don't understand why they are still shipping with CDs with drivers from before October 2009. But it's not much worse than anything else I have attempted to install to my Vista PC :)

The AIO seems well constructed and solid. The bottom paper tray feels a little flimsy when you are loading paper, but feels solid once it is pushed home.

All the functions of this printer seem to be great so far. The printhead alignment blew me away - print an alignment page, then scan it to get the alignment - no checking which sets of parallel lines are not broken. It says you only need to do alignments if you are going to print photos, but it is so easy, I would recommend doing it anyway. The scanner seems to work great so far. And, even though I don't plan on using this for photos very much, the first photo I printed on it looked phenomenal!

So I am pleased so far. I don't yet know how often I will be buying ink. I also haven't yet set it up on my XP nor on my 2000 computers, but my Vista went well, so I don't anticipate a problem with them. Of course, the drivers may not support Win2000, but that one would be my fault for not getting rid of an obsolete computer.

The best part was, once I had it set up and demoed to my wife, I told her it cost $94. She about flipped - she was expecting me to say it cost $200. So she is happy too!

2/11/2010 - No problems with this printer so far. Haven't yet loaded drivers onto any other PCs, but what I have used from my Vista PC, I have scanned a bunch, and printed a lot. It's a little slow to start printing, but once it starts up it prints at a good speed.

I also like the auto-opening front door, it has a nice look on our desktop closed up.

Awesome Printer!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was looking for something that would be multi-function and not break the bank. It's great being wireless, as it eliminates extra wired stuff. The print is clear as ever! Scanning quality is GREAT!

Satisfied user
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have had Canon printers before and have always been pleased. I especially like the duplex printing the MP560 provides. We need to save trees.
The wireless linkage works flawlessly, much better than my Linksys Wireless Print Server.

great printer with some flaws
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I'm using Mac 10.6.2, Snow Leopard on a 24" iMac.

The MP560 produces excellent text and photo quality.

It can be used hard wired or wireless but not both at the same time. So if you have a laptop as well as a desk computer as we do, do not use a USB cable to connect the printer to the computer as it will then not be accessible to the wireless laptop.

It does not support auto on/off but if left powered on, it goes into sleep energy saver mode and wakes quickly. At first this seemed to be a problem deal breaker but learning of the power save mode makes it easy to keep the printer on if we know that we will be using it from our laptops rather than the iMac.

Ink cartridges significantly smaller than for my previous Pixma 5200 but slightly cheaper. But it will be the primary expense of this printer. I am not sure if this is different from any other brand of printer out there, however.

The paper outlet drawer opens automatically when the printing begins so you can leave it closed for a tidier look to the printer.

You do not have to install the complete software et al contents of the Installation disc if you chose not to. Using the installation disc, you can chose Custom Install and chose only what you want to install. The choices are the instruction manual, the drivers, and the software so it is not necessary to install the complete package as has been noted in another review.

The top paper slot is for Photo paper, and the bottom tray is for regular paper. The default on the printer is Automatic Chosing depending on what you are going to print. On my older Pixma 5200, you have to tell the printer which tray of the two to use but it was not any problem with the 5600 as the automatic choice seems to work just fine every time.

The lcd screen, which is becoming standard on printers these days, allows for printing directly from a camera without the computer, and allows for esy copying. My current copier is a sheet loader so a receipt or other small item has to be taped to a full sized page to pass through the copier. Not so with this machine as you just lift the top door of the scanner component and place your small paper inside just like the grown up copiers. This makes a hugh difference wfor us but probably not so if you already have a copy machine that works the same way.

A major problem occurred but Canon tech support helped me develop a workaround solution.

iPhoto in 10.6.2 cannot print borderless of any number of prints per page other than one. So if you want to print 2 or 4 borderless prints per page, you will get borders despite the settings you chose. It will print a borderless full page print, however but you will be taken through an extra print dialogue box after you select Print.

Because of this, I installed the Canon software which is much more intuitive to use than printing from iPhoto itself and does allow for multiple borderless prints per page. The problem with the Canon Easy PhotoPrint EX is that it does not recognize iPhoto so you cannot chose any of the photos in the iPhoto library. What to do?

Create a desktop folder (mine is called iPhoto pics) and Copy and Paste any photos from iPhoto that you wish to print. The Canon Easy PhotoPrint software will callup a dialogue box allowing you to chose form many areas of your computer to chose photos to print, and the Desktop is among them. It takes several clicks the first time to get to the Desktop photos. So when the Easy Photoprint appears in the dock (which it will once you start the Print process), right click on it and click Remain in dock choice). Then, every time you click on it in the dock, it will immediately take you to the folder on the desktop in which you have saved your photos for printing. It is much easier and quicker than it takes to read this paragraph.

Now you can print as many borderless prints per page as you want directly from the Canon proprietary software.

I'm looking forward to creating a custom Calendar and Valentine's Day album with photos on every page using the included software that walks you through the process.

Elegantly Efficient Printing Solution
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I researched a number of different printers to find one that was compatible with my new MacBook and existing wireless network. Given my specific business needs, Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Printer has been a seamless solution.

Instructions for setting up the printer - installing components that had been stored in the printer for shipping - were straightforward. Connecting the printer to my network was so easy it seems effortless.

I am very impressed with the quality of this low cost printer. It was clear to me as soon as I removed it from the box that it was well made with real craftsmanship. This printer is a cut above the norm. Based on my experience, I recommend this Canon wireless printer for Mac and PC users because it works so well for my Mac and PC network.

Instructions for setting up the printer – installing components that had been stored in the printer for shipping – were straightforward.

Love it!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Although I haven't used it much yet, I am very impressed with this printer thus far. The wireless set-up was very easy and I was up and running inside of twenty minutes. I'm switching from an HP specifically for the wireless capability; I didn't go with the wireless HP because I wasn't completely satisfied with the one that I have. For the ease of use and all of the available features, you just can't beat it for the money.
